World Poverty Day 2021

The World Poverty Day, formally known as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, is held annually on October 17.

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently reversing decades of progress and causing serious issues such as malnutrition and starvation which is potentially a life-threatening reality for underprivileged children living in poverty, and food security. In addition to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 1 : No Poverty, which is one of our targeted goal for our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Spoon Consulting decided to help underprivileged babies at La Crèche Ste Anne Tranquebar which is associated with Caritas Cathedrale St Louis.

These underprivileged children are from the streets, some who do not have parents and some whose parents do not earn enough to provide them with two square meals a day. The babies are aged from 3 to 36 months and several basic needs items were donated such as baby food, cereals, diapers, hygienic products and so on.

Besides the CSR program, a donation box was placed at the office where our employees heartily donated the baby items.

The donation was held on the 20th of October, where some of our CSR team members went to donate the items. Moreover, the members had the opportunity to spend some quality time with these underprivileged children.
