Spoon Consulting hosted the first session in the Women in Tech Africa

Spoon Consulting hosted the first session in the Women In Tech Africa Week. An initiative of Women In Tech Africa, which organized a Pan African women in tech virtual meet up which brought together over 150 women in technology roles across Africa. Just like the past few years, Sameera Chattun, the Mauritius chapter lead of Women in tech Africa organized Women in Tech week 2021 from 11th to 14th of October.

Spoon Consulting Ltd had the privilege of hosting the first session for Panel discussion on lessons in leadership on the topic “How do you prepare your organization to attract and retain the next generation talents, in the new normal?” The panel was moderated by Nawshine Janmahamod Keenoo Senior Consultant at Spoon Consulting Ltd and the speaker panel was made up of Nivedita Jokhun, Partner & Head of Customer Experience Practice at Spoon Consulting, Dr. Sunita Ballah-Bheeka, Senior HR Manager at AfrAsia Bank, Prya Baumy- Rughoo, Managing Director at Leadership and Organisational Development Solutions Ltd, Maboulz ™ & Unlearning Lab ™ and Zulaika Sunthbocus the co-founder and ex-Managing Director of Spoon Consulting. She is now on the board of directors for FundKiss Technologies Limited, Kipepeo Beauty, executive member of AMFCE, Future Females Invest, Tech4Good.

The preparation for the panel discussion started 2 weeks before the event with the ladies meeting up virtually to brainstorm and discuss the topics together. The meetups were very animated and full of discussion with 4 dynamic ladies who knew their subjects very well. All of them had so much to share on their own experiences and knowledge in the subject. Since the topic was on the young talents, we embarked the younger spooners to participate in a video survey where they told us what motivates them, what they look for in a job, and what difficulties they encountered when working in a hybrid mode online.

On the day of the event, everyone was super excited and motivated to start the discussion. After a few technical tweaks at the start, we launched the discussion with an introduction with the right dose of excitement to be there and the aim of making the discussion as instructional as possible. The panel discussion had 90 viewers connected on the Zoom platform and lasted for an hour.
